GreenGas will perform a free assessment of your waste streams to determine how much methane, a highly potent greenhouse gas, is released from your operation. GreenGas’ goal is to harvest as much methane from your waste streams as possible. This prevents methane from emitting to the atmosphere, potentially reducing your GHG reporting requirements.
GreenGas will offer sources with sufficiently high methane potential a joint development agreement. This agreement commits GreenGas to install and fund the necessary equipment to capture methane from your waste streams, convert it to renewable natural gas, and will define a payment stream to the gas source for the term of the agreement which can range from 10-20 years. The gas source is not required to incur any costs under this agreement and will be compensated for providing the feedstock to produce RNG. We strongly believe in creating new and diverse income streams to the farming communities we work in addition to improving environmental impacts.
GreenGas will install methane capture systems. These typically consist of covered lagoons or tank-based systems. These processes facilitate the naturally occurring biodegradation of organic waste – also called anaerobic digestion. Methanogens convert organics into CH4, which along with other gases such as CO2 comprise biogas.
Biogas in its raw form is not easily consumable as a fuel. Through further processing using gas separation equipment, methane is isolated and a highly purified gas called RNG is created. This form of gas meets the same standards as fossil natural gas and can be used interchangeably without any upgrade to pipelines or combustion equipment. RNG, however, does displace fossil natural gas and is renewable.
GreenGas partners with leading global businesses and organizations that use RNG to displace fossil fuels and decarbonize/reduce their carbon footprint. We believe strongly in creating value for farmers and or other generators of organic waste. Our approach involves allowing gas sources to participate in the economic benefits of RNG after GreenGas has recovered its initial investment.
